Disappointed little boy

I have purchased this toy twice now, once and Christmas and again for Valentine's Day. Christmas morning was so disappointing for my son (4) when his most prized gift was Bomb-Blastin Mater. The on/off switch wouldn't stay in the on position so everytime Mater danced or drove around, he shut off. So, to get us through the day, I taped the switch down so it would stay running. A few days after the Christmas return rush, I returned the toy to my local retailer and was disappointed (but not surprised) to find out they were no longer in stock. So, here we are a few weeks later and I order one online. It comes in and seems to work fine in "try-me" mode, but once switched to "on" it barely works like it's supposed to. He doesn't drive or dance, except for a few inches back and forth, his voice is distorted and he stops talking in the middle of his sayings. I have changed all 6 of the batteries, twice, with consistantly disappointing results. I can say that atleast this one works better than the first one, but still very disappointed in the inabilities for this toy to live up to what it was made out to be. This toy retailed for $79.95 around Christmas, and I definately don't see where it's worth that.
